The Hershey Jr Bears squirt team can hold their heads high as they took 5th in the international tournament in Pelham Ontario over the weekend. The team went 2-2 and missed the final four by a one goal tie-breaker. They started the weekend strong with a 3-2 win over the San Jose Jr Sharks, scoring in the final minute of the game. The second game against the Barrie Colts was a great back and forth matchup and was tied 0-0 until 3 minutes remaining in the game when Barrie broke the ice and ultimately won the game. The following day the HJBs took down the New Mexico Ice Wolves 5-2. In the final game the Bears took on host team Pelham and lost in a heart breaker 4-3 where a tie would have sent them to the final four.
Despite the outcome the team had a blast and was the fan favorite at the tournament as they handed each team a 5lb chocolate bar in the spirit of good sportsmanship and they were the most popular at the opening ceremonies with their pins that all weekend players and parents would ask to purchase additional pins.
We congratulate our HJBs in representing the Hershey program so well. Great job Bears!
